Can I use JAR utility to compress and convert the SWF format?

I have downloaded many videos from the internet, but all are in SWF format and occupies huge space, that’s why I am not able to transfer it to my cell phone? I have heard about the JAR utility that compresses the files and also converts them to the phone compatible formats. Is it true?

Hello my friend, I think you have some misunderstanding with the JAR utility. Yes, it is true that JAR utility is built on ZIP file format and is used to compress files, but only the text files. It is mostly used by the JAVA programmers to compress the .java and .class files in the command line interface with the jar command. JAR utility is neither used to compress SWF format and nor able to convert it in to any mobile phone compatible format. For this you have to use any SWF Converter that can convert your SWF format to other formats.
